Whether you’re becoming swamped with coursework, paperwork, or just generally feeling run down by every day life, taking time out for yourself is so essential to maintain a healthy and happy mindset. Here are a couple of products and a good read that have aided me in unwinding at the end of the day.
Step One: Run a hot bath. I find these products from Lush, Granny Takes A Dip and Unicorn Horn really brighten my mood from their amazing smell to turning your water “psychedelic” colours. Lush claim that Granny Takes A Dip’s spicy, citrusy scent “will pep you up: lemon oil boosts the mood, while ginger and pepper are warming.” Unicorn Horn is a product perfect for a before bed bath. Infusing your nostrils with the aroma of lavender and neroli essential oils, this magical bubble bar aids you in immediately finding your zen while also making for a cute Instagram snap. Due to being packed with skin loving oils, both products left my skin feeling super soft.
Step Two: Light your fave candle(s). Coconut Milk Mango by Anthropologie works wonders paired together with Nest’s Periwinkle candle. Both fresh and clean smelling, complimenting the scents of the Lush products.
Step Three: A killer playlist. For a lot of people music assists massively in the de-stress process. There really is nothing better than zoning out to goooood music. I recently created a playlist on my Spotify account just for the bath. From including the likes of Kanye and Destiny’s Child to The 1975 and alt-J, my eclectic music taste will suit all moods. A gal needs options.
Step Four: A good read. I’m currently working my way through Lena Dunham’s Not That Kind of Girl. There are no words apt enough to explain my love and appreciation for this book. Dubbed as the “voice of her generation”, she details an honest, hilarious tale of growing up as a female. Dunham has received a lot of stick regarding her privileged, “cool” background but personally I think this is irrelevant. Whether you’ve been brought up in the limelight or not, having self respect and believing in yourself is so important and when you’re as open about your experiences and can write in such a way as Lena Dunham, I think it’s an inspiration to young women.
